If you group options that live or scheduled campaigns have selected, those selections are removed from the campaigns’ targeting, which can change who sees their ads. We recommend grouping after those campaigns end. Removing or deleting options from a group also changes the reach of campaigns that selected the group.

  2. Select Delete option.
  3. Click Save at the bottom of the screen.
  4. In the Edit targeting? window, review the affected campaigns and products. If any are listed, select the confirmation checkbox, then click Save.
  • Only members with Owner permission can delete targeting options.
  • Options are not deleted until you save. If you leave the screen without saving, the option is not deleted.
Important notes when editing, deleting, or grouping targeting options
  • Impact on live campaigns: Structural changes such as deleting, grouping, or renaming options are applied to live campaigns as soon as you save, which may affect performance.
  • When changes take effect: Condition changes and new options in audience targeting are applied after the next hourly audience update, so this can take more than an hour. In context targeting, Context ID changes and adding or grouping options can also take some time to be reflected in ad serving.
  • Deleting In Use options: You can delete options that are In Use. When you do, they are immediately removed from the targeting of live campaigns. If all options a campaign included in that targeting are deleted, the campaign is served without that targeting condition, so check the affected campaigns before deleting.
  • Ad Products: Product targeting settings may be affected, so be sure to review the product’s targeting settings.

FAQ

You cannot delete targeting if any of its options are In Use (selected by approved live or scheduled campaigns). Delete it after the related campaigns end. Individual targeting options can be deleted even when they are In Use, so check the impact on campaigns before deleting them.
Place frequently used targeting or those with high revenue contribution at the top. Advertisers see these first when booking campaigns, increasing selection likelihood.
